Sayaka Akitsu – is a Japanese dancer, dance maker and educator based in Madrid and Kyoto.

Akitsu trained and worked in the fields of ballet and contemporary dance in Japan. Later she expanded her activity world wide as she followed training at contact improvisation work with Nancy Stark Smith in Massachusetts US (2008), guest student at Batsheva dance company Israel (2008) among others.

In 2008 she relocated to Amsterdam where she began making her own choreographies. Her works have been shown in various international festivals and venues in The Netherlands, France, Israel, Greece, and Japan. In 2013 she became a finalist of Yokohama dance collection EX with the piece “A bite” that was produced at Dansateliers. As an improviser she often works with Katie Duck and her group ‘Magpie Umbrella’.

In 2016, she graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance with a Postgraduate Diploma in Community Dance (Distinction). In 2016-2017, she studied at Universidad de Castilla de la Mancha (Spain) and received MA in Performing arts and Visual arts.

Currently she is based in Madrid and Kyoto, working on her creative projects. As a teacher, she teaches creative dance class for adults and children, at festivals, local schools and institutions internationally.

秋津さやか – マドリード、京都を拠点にした日本人パフォーマー、振付家、教育者。

立命館大学卒業後、京都を中心にバレエ、オペラ、コンテンポラリーの分野で活動した後、マサチューセッツ州のナンシー・スターク・スミスによるコンタクトインプロヴィゼーション、イスラエルのバットシェバ舞踊団等の、海外のカンパニーや学校で研修を経験する。

2008年にアムステルダムに拠点を移し、ダンス、造形美術との共同作品等で活動、即興パフォーマンスではKatie Duck主宰のMagpie Umbrellaと活動を共にする。2009年から創作活動を開始し、自作をヨーロッパ各国、イスラエル、日本にて発表する。Dansateliersプロデュース作品”A bite”で、2013年横浜ダンスコレクションEXファイナリストとなる。

2015-2016年、英国トリニティラバンのコミュニティダンス準修士コースで学び、Distinctionにて卒業。2017年にはスペインのカスティーヤ・デ・ラ・マンチャ大学で学び、パフォーミングアーツとヴィジュアルアーツのマスターを取得した。

現在マドリードと京都を拠点に、自身の創作活動に取り組む。教育者としては、ダンス経験を問わない大人と子どもを対象に、クリエイティブダンスを各国のフェスティバル、学校、ダンス機関などで教えている。
